School Nurse

Hello my name is Ruth Spencer and I am the School Health nurse for Gosford Hill School.

I am a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. I have worked for many years in Children’s Nursing, Health Visiting and School Nursing in the Community. I am based at Gosford Hill School and I also work occasionally in other schools delivering the national immunisation programme.

Some of the things I can help students with include;

Puberty

Personal Hygiene

Bladder and Bowel problems

Supporting young people with medical conditions in school

Supporting young people with emotional wellbeing

Sexual Health and Relationships

All aspects of young people’s physical, emotional and mental health

I also provide staff training in medical conditions and run Health Promotion Events in school as part of PSHE curriculum.

I am based in Portas with the School Counsellor and my working hours are Monday – Friday 9am-3pm. The School Health Service is confidential which means you can share personal information with me and I won’t share it with a third party unless I have concerns about your safety. If I need to share information, I will discuss this with you first.

As well as promoting health in children and young people, School Health nurses also help protect young people’s health through delivery of the national immunisation programme.

I run a lunch time drop-in on a Tuesday and Thursday if you would like to come and see me and to make an appointment or you can self-refer by placing a note in the box outside the Portas building.

I look forward to supporting you with any health issues that may arise during your time at Gosford Hill School

Kind regards,

Ruth Spencer
