Gosford Hill School Reading List

The following books have been recommended by our departments as books that would be useful to read to help your child’s understanding in that subject as well as improve their reading skills. We do not expect you to buy these books, but many of them are available in the Learning Centre and they may help you choose a book if are shopping in town, are online or buying an e-book.

As part of our Home Learning Policy we expect all students to read for 15 minutes per night. Regular reading has been shown to increase vocabulary, help spelling, increase general knowledge, empathy and even helps in subjects such as Maths. One study has even shown that reading is the biggest single factor in improving a child’s life chances (Reading for Change, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, 2002).
