Year 10 Science Trip to Thorpe Park

On Friday 15th September the science faculty took a group of Year 10 pupils on an exciting and physics based trip to Thorpe Park! Pupils learnt how rollercoaster architects designed magnets to stop the fastest rollercoaster in the park, as well as the reasons behind the corkscrew design of Colossus and the use of g-force in Zodiac – the rollercoaster without seatbelts! They also calculated the gravitational potential energy of Stealth – that tallest rollercoaster in the UK! And of course they got to try out the rollercoasters for themselves!
