Busy Terms 4 & 5 of Sport in Kidlington Family Partnership

It has been a busy time across the 5 primary schools in the Kidlington Family Cluster during terms 4 and 5. Since returning to school on Monday 20th February the Kidlington Family has taken part in 7 festivals, across 7 different sports and involving 4 different year groups at school. It has also been great to work in partnership with Oxford Hawks Hockey Club, North Oxford Tennis Club and Kidlington Youth FC to host and run 3 of the festivals. Fostering and developing strong school-club links is a vital part of the role and it is always a privilege to work in partnership with and promote the brilliant sports clubs that we have available across our partnership.

The very best stats of all though are that a total of 417 children have taken part across the 7 festivals, proof of the wonderful opportunities that a strong partnership like ours can offer young pupils. This is further demonstrated by the fact that the festivals were led by 28 fantastic Year 10 Gosford Hill School Leaders as well as 25 new Year 9 leaders who stepped in during the Targeted Sportshall Athletics when year 10 were on work experience! Taking the total number of students involved in the 7 festivals during terms 4 and 5 across Gosford Hill School and 5 of its feeder primary schools to 470!  If you add that to the 9 festivals completed in terms 1,2 and 3, then a total of 1,224 pupils across the 6 schools have participated in and/or led the 16 festivals held within the Kidlington Family so far. One word springs to mind – outstanding!

The festivals in terms 4 and 5 were:

Year 5 & 6 Hockey (Winners = North Kidlington) (Supported by Oxford Hawks Hockey Club)

Year 5 &6 Netball (Winners = Edward Feild)

Year 5 Multiskills

Year 5 & 6 Targeted Sportshall Athletics (Winners = Dr South’s)

Year 3 and 4 Mini Tennis (Winners = Edward Feild) (Hosted and supported by North Oxford Tennis Club

Year3 /4 & Year5/6 Quadkids (Winners = Edward Feild)

Year 5/6 Football (Winners = North Kidlington) (Hosted and supported by Kidlington Youth FC)

In addition to all of these fantastic festivals, each school has been busy in their PE lessons also. With pupils enjoying, learning and developing school games values in a range of different sports such as tennis, rounders, cricket, multi-skills, target throwing, basketball, hockey, athletics and netball.  There have also been a host of extra-curricular clubs being run across the schools, as well as many exciting intra-school competitions.

All of the above demonstrates the fantastic achievements to date of all of the pupils, leaders and dedicated staff in all of the 5 primary schools and at Gosford Hill Secondary School. Terms 4 and 5 have been fantastic and after a short break I’m sure we are all looking forward to another great term 6!

Well done all!
