North Oxford Athletic Trails

On Tuesday 23rd of May, 24 year 8, 9 and 10 competitors and 3 sports leaders attended the North Oxford Athletic Trials at Horspath Athletics track. The event is a trial day, where athletes from across North Oxfordshire schools, compete for a chance to represent the county athletics team. Our athletes competed superbly on the day, with each pupil giving 100% and representing the school in an exemplary manner. The standard was high and many of our students were competing against older pupils from other schools. Despite this, Gosford pupils had many successes on the day:

Joe Mimpress 1st Javelin

Georgia Johnson 1st 100m/ 1st Long Jump

Chloe Antonen 1st 300m/ 1st Discus

Amber Parker 1st Discus

Connor Jones 1st 200m/ 1st Long Jump

Steven Soares 1st 300m

Thomas Kavanagh 1st Discus

Ewan Smith 1st Long Jump/ 2nd High Jump

Zack Harwood 2nd 200m

Dean Dodworth 2nd Long Jump

Adam Blake 3rd 1500m/ 3rd High Jump

It was a fantastic day out and the organiser was extremely complementary of our school and pupils. A big well done to all who competed and to our leaders Sam Gauld, Luanna Dias and Phillip Roberts who did a fantastic job on the day of officiating the track events. Thanks also to Mr Clyne for attending the event as an extra member of staff.
