First Lego League Challenge at Oxford Brookes University

On Saturday 14th January the GHS Robot Club went to Oxford Brookes University to take part in the First Lego League Challenge...

The challenge is to build a robot to autonomously navigate a course completing a set number of challenges. The team have been working since September to build the challenge course, assemble and program a robot.

The usual Suspects – Jack, Erik, Asa, Kyle and Cooba.
Our hardy Lego team crew are put through a grilling. Whose idea was it? Who did what? Why did you build it like that? How many challenges are you going to do and why?

We’re gonna need a bigger robot!
Battle commences. Our robot is off to move the animals around the course. First is the shark tank challenge. Safely move the shark from the storage area to the display area.

Frantic reprogramming. Our controller froze. The programs had to be loaded onto another controller. New programs had to be written and honed to successfully complete the tasks.

Final prize giving. It had been a long day.
Well done Team Gosford. Cup for best team work!

Thanks to Johnny Russell from Oxford Brookes, Hamish Munro and Sam Gauld for helping out at Robot club.
