Sunday 23 April 2017.
On Friday 9th October, 9 Sixth Form students attended an event at the Ashmolean Museum called ‘Discovering ARTiculation’. The aim of the day was to develop critical analysis, research techniques and improve our public speaking skills. These skills are useful to help us analyse art pieces in depth.
The format involved us working in groups with students from other schools. We created presentations based around research of museum artefacts, which included; ceremonial armour of Samurai Warriors, a Renaissance painting and an Egyptian temple. Each had an interesting history and were wonderful to view.
We were also privileged to speak to curators who have been studying these art pieces and time periods as part of their overall research. This showed us how to apply professional techniques when investigating a piece of Art.
We received feedback from Lady Roberts who curates the Queen/s collection of drawings and has also written many books. We were very happy to have had this great opportunity to attend such a fantastic event.
