The Governors of our school are a committed group of people who want to make a positive contribution to our student’s education. They have an extremely important role and combine their dedication and specialism to achieve this. On this page we have introduced ourselves and would welcome any feedback or questions you would like to put forward.
Mr Adrian Mark Corness
Mark Corness is a Parent Governor elected in 2015. He has three daughters in the school in years 13, 10 and 7 and a son who recently left Gosford Hill following his GCSE’s to study an extended diploma in art and design. Mark has over 20 years experience as a science teacher, educational psychologist and inclusion, therapeutic foster care, and behavior and attendance manager in local government. He currently runs his own small company in Oxford delivering educational psychology services to schools, families and other clients. He believes strongly in social inclusion, wellbeing and aspirational education for all young people.
Miss Hayley Curtis
Hayley Curtis is a former student of Gosford Hill School, leaving the Sixth Form in 2002. Hayley studied Geography and Educational Studies at Oxford Brookes University and completed a Masters Degree in Education; specialising in effective teaching and learning. Hayley is the faculty leader for Humanities, appointed in July 2016 after 10 years of teaching in the surrounding areas.
Mr Andrew Gauld (Chair)
Andy Gauld is a Parent Governor elected in 2013. He has a son in year 10 and a son in year 7, with other son currently at primary school. He is a Director at Deloitte working in Analytics & Digital. He is the former chairman and founding member of a local football club in the Bicester area and is still an active member of the club. Andy is currently the Chair of Governors and the Chair of the Finance and Resources committee.
Mrs Elaine Millard
Elaine Millard has a son in year 8 at Gosford Hill and a daughter in year 5 of primary school. Elaine is an HR Partner at the BBC, currently working on a major World Service project. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, and has MA in French and Spanish. Outside of work, Elaine is Chair of 1st Bure Park Scouting, and also Chair of a local church committee.
Mr Brian Moss
Brian Moss has lived in Kidlington since 1968. He has four children and six grandchildren. He has recently retired but spent 25 years of his working life as Operations Director of a large corporation, responsible for procurement, transport, security, hospitality and property maintenance. For the last 25 years of his working life, he was MD of a local company specialising in Transport & Distribution. His aim as a Governor is to assist the school in a procurement capacity which is where his expertise lies. Outside of work, he played football for Oxfordshire Youth and Witney Town in the Senior League. Current hobbies include golf, travelling and watching football.
Mr Nigel Sellars
Nigel Sellars was appointed as Headteacher from Easter 2016. He has worked in three other secondary schools throughout Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and is a Music graduate. Nigel’s educational vision is learning centred, aimed at developing individual students to be autonomous and resilient learners in order to prepare them with not only subject knowledge and understanding, but also transferrable skills, and wider extra curricular opportunities in order that they can take their place in a rapidly changing and competitive workplace. Outside of his work, Nigel is a Community First Responder with West Midlands Ambulance Service, and other hobbies include baking, running, rowing and music.
Mrs Geraldine Shepherd
Geraldine has lived in Kidlington since 2005. She is married and has four children, all of whom now have their own families. She has worked within Human Resources management in the NHS for over 25 years, many of which were at a senior level. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and currently works for a local NHS Trust. Geraldine is an active member of Emmanuel Church Oxford where she has been a Trustee since 2006. In her HR career she has actively supported people to develop through their career pathways and believes that everyone should have the right to develop to their full potential which starts with opportunities and sound foundations in their informative years of formal education.
Mr Adrian Thomas
Adrian Thomas is a Parent Governor elected in May 2017 and is married and has a son in year 8. He has 20 years’ experience as a police officer with Thames Valley Police and has lived in Kidlington for the last 15 years. He trained as a detective and now specialises in policing strategy and domestic abuse. He holds a degree and postgraduate diploma from Cardiff University and enjoys walking and reading.
Mrs Kay Usher
Kay Usher has three children in primary school, one of which has special needs. Prior to her role as finance manager for Gosford Hill School, Kay was a business manager for a local charity specialising in patient feedback, where she was responsible for the corporate strategy and corporate functions, as well as leading a team of 7 staff. She was also responsible for quality improvement, gaining ISO25002 and investors in people awards for the company. She also has many years’ experience in sales and marketing in the private sector (life science). She holds a Masters in Business Administration and an MPhil in Gene Therapy. Kay is a teaching Maths at Gosford Hill School.
Mr Clive Walsh
Clive Walsh has lived in Kidlington since 1980, Married with 3 Children, who all attended Gosford Hill School, with a Grandchild presently at the school. Working for BT for over 40 years, in many Engineering and Management roles. Currently an Operations Manager, Leading a Team of 17 Engineers and Apprentices, responsible for their Personal Development, Health & Safety, Compliance and Performance Management, Continuously Improving and Developing them. Outside work he had played Rugby for Oxford Old Boys and has coached mini and junior Rugby teams from the age of 8 through to 18. He was Chairman of a Kidlington Social club for 12 years. Current hobbies are active supporter of local rugby team, enjoying skiing, walking and travel.
Mrs Steph Woodley
Steph Woodley currently has two sons in Gosford Hill with three further children still at primary school. Steph currently works as the Head of Transfer Agency Services for Jupiter Asset Management in London and is responsible for all investor related activities. She has recently changed roles from the Head of Supplier Management which involved overseeing initial and ongoing due diligence activities for critical suppliers. Prior to this she worked in a Project capacity, responsible for a number of key strategic projects involving multiple regulatory bodies and 3rd parties. Outside work Steph (and the rest of her family) train in the martial art Jado Kuin Do.
